How Did You Attract and Address Your Audience?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

My knowledge of technologies has widened greatly from the process of constructing my product. I have learned more about all different technologies, including Photoshop, premiere and learning about other sources on the Internet such as sound cloud, Royalty free music, presentation apps and social media.

One of the most useful lessons in using technology was mainly using the Internet as a source for producing efficiently in various areas of the filmmaking process. I used google to look up all sourses that went into my research and planning and helped build my product. Google provided me with articles, videos, pictures, etc that contributed in my research and planning and also construction of my product. Without using google I would of not been able to add in statistics for research or look up valuable information about films.

I was learned about a website called 'Royalty-free music' and ‘sound cloud’ that allowed you to download sounds and music that the exam board were advising us to use. I used these websites for my music because using copyrighted material was not prohibited for the making of my film. Using sound cloud also allowed me to discover new music that I previously didnt know about, I found this very interesting as I found that there is more music than the songs just played on the radio.

I also got to discover different presentation websites across the Internet such as ‘Prezi’, ‘Emaze’ and ‘Timeline’. These websites helped make my coursework look exiting and interesting, which benefits me greatly. They also came in handy for various other subjects. I learned a lot about presentation through using these websites that I can definaly use in the future and recomend. It also made me realise that there is more than one presentation app besides powerpoint which I previously used for everything.

I also got to explore more social media and understand how to use it in a completely different way. I created a facebook account, instagram account and YouTube account to represent my film production company ‘StarStruck film productions’.

I promoted my film production company on facebook, which attracted people from all over the world to like my page and become interested in my film sequence. I kept them updated with posts from filming and pictures of the actors being used in my film. I also posted various blog posts onto my facebook to widen my blog audience and to get feedback on my coursework.

This is the home page of my production companys Facebook page. It was really interesting to create a page for my compamy as I got to learn how to use facebook in a completly differnet way through promoting and advertising.

As you can see I promoted some of my blogger posts on Facebook. This was so that I could attract people to view my blog and get more feedback for various things. It also kept them updated with how far along I was with my film process.

I did similar things on the instagram account. Yet I felt facebook was better at promoting. On instagram I also got my actor who played Sydney to post updates of our filming process. This was a bonus as more of an audience got introduced to my sequence, blogger and social media.

On YouTube I posted various videos relating to my film. This included behind the scenes videos, auditions, clips adn montages I used on my blog and the final opening sequence. Through doing this I got got learn how to use YouTube in a new way that was also very interesting as I had never had a youtube acount before and I got to have a new outlook on how it works. A challenge of using YouTube was that it took me a while to figure out how to upload videos. I know now that it was a simple process but at the time I struggled as I had bever done it before. Another challenge was that some of my montages I created for research purposes contained copyright material and the videos were getting blocked. However I learned how to approach the copyright material and explain to the  holder that it was for educational purposes and through this I was aloud to use most material.

I used Premiere pro to edit my final opening sequence. At first, I had no idea how to edit videos properly or make my film look professional. It was a challenge. However I improved my editing on premiere with help from classmates and tutorial videos on YouTube. Another editing software I used was iMovie. This was used to make my montages. I found Imovie easier to use than Premier probably because its more self explanitory than premier pro.

I also learned a lot about Photoshop during the process of constructing my product. I used Photoshop and fireworks to create my film production logo which represents my film and all the social medias as well as being the opening for my sequence. Photoshop and fireworks was easier to get the hang of than Premiere perhaps because I had used them before. I personanly prefered using fireworkd over photoshop as again it was more self explainitory and the editing tools were easier to access. However I feel th eoutcome of photoshot was better quality.

A website I probably learned the most about and spent most time on is Blogger. I learnt about making blogs, and using the website Blogger and all of its features. The pages and posts options were a bit baffling to start with as it was hard to structure and order my work accordingly so everyone can access information easily. Creating the layout was also challenging as it took me a while to work out how to change fonts, alignment and backgrounds. It also took time to upload videos and embed certain presentations. However I overcame these obsticals by watching tutorials on YouTube and learning from peers. It was amazingly easy to use Blogger once I got the hang of it, but saving work can be frustrating when sometimes it glitches up writing to look different, or even position images or videos in weird ways that I don't want them to be. More so some background coclours were unwanted and even though I made my fonts a ceratin style, not all words would conform to the same style. I wanted all my work to be center and sometimes blogger would make the writing central but pictures and videos would be to the left, this was really frustrating at times. There are odd occasions when it's 'not responding' and you have no choice but to get off the page and lose all unsaved changes.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?
